The Mockingbird School began as an aspiring secular homeschool tutorial in Wilson County, TN. When finding a physical location proved difficult, they pivoted; transforming their mission into a growing digital resource hub and inclusive community space for secular homeschool families.

The Mockingbird School launched with big hopes: to create an in-person secular homeschool tutorial grounded in inclusivity, curiosity, and respect. But after months of searching, they couldn’t secure a suitable location. Still, the need for community didn’t disappear.
In fact, it became even clearer.
Many secular homeschoolers in the region were feeling isolated, frustrated, and unwelcome in more traditional spaces. The Mockingbird team wanted to pivot—building an online hub that could serve those families with resources, support, and connection. Their original site, created quickly in the early days, no longer reflected who they were or where they were headed.

We began by revisiting the brand’s purpose: to offer a safe, welcoming space for secular homeschoolers to find one another, share ideas, and feel seen. We talked about what they wanted visitors to feel when landing on the site—invited, understood, and energized to explore.
From there, I designed a clean, strategic Webflow website with space to grow. We developed a brand identity that reflected their values: inclusive, nurturing, honest, and open-minded.
Key feature of the new site include:
✔ A blog for sharing stories, advice, and secular education insights
✔ A resource hub with shopping lists, YouTube videos, music playlists, and book recommendations
✔ A community update section where they can share future plans and keep the dream of a tutorial alive
✔ An email opt-in flow for new readers
✔ A segmented email funnel for updates, survey links, and event invitations
We also made sure the backend was easy to manage so content could be updated often without needing technical help.
The Mockingbird School now has a digital home that reflects its mission and meets the moment. Families who once felt left out of the homeschool conversation are finding their way to a space where their values are not only respected—but celebrated.
