Why “empowering” can sometimes mean “overwhelming.”
You’re excited. Motivated. Inspired.
You open the website builder and think, “This is it. I’m finally going to knock this out.”
And at first, it’s kinda fun.
You pick a font. Drag in some images. Write a headline that feels surprisingly solid.
You even imagine telling people, “Yeah, I built it myself.”
But then comes the tweaking.
The resizing. The “Does this button go here or there?” spiral.
You second-guess every word. Spend 45 minutes trying to make the spacing feel right.
Three days later, you’ve rewritten your About page four times and still hate it.
Eventually, you hit a wall.
You get overwhelmed.
So you move on to the next shiny task in your business that feels more manageable.
And now your website?
It’s half-done.
Or maybe technically live, but it’s hanging over you like that half-unpacked suitcase from your trip to Cabo two months ago.
You keep stepping over it thinking, “Ugh, I really need to deal with that.”
But every time you try, you get that same heavy, avoidant feeling in your chest.
And worst of all? You start to wonder if it’s you. It’s not.
It’s a system that pushes DIY at all costs. Even when DIY is the fast track to burnout.
And hey, sometimes DIY is a great option. But sometimes it’s not.
Sometimes you don’t need more “empowerment.” You need support.
You need someone to take it off your plate, bring clarity, and help you finish the thing without it costing your last spoon.
Here’s what that “free” or “cheap” site might actually be costing you:
I’ve had clients come to me with beautiful DIY sites… that weren’t working at all.
Because even pretty websites fall flat without clarity, cohesion, and strategic flow.
If your brain works differently, or your clients’ do, you need more than a good-looking template.
You need a site that’s:
Not “just enough to get by.”
Not “good for now.”
Something that actually works with your energy and values.
Yes, you can technically do it.
But that doesn’t mean you should. Not if it’s costing your time, your energy, or your sanity.
Take me, for example: I can paint my bedroom. I’ve done it before.
And honestly? I only think about the painting part which sounds kind of fun.
I forget about the prep.
The cleanup.
The dogs trying to eat the paint.
The time it takes away from the people and things I love.
So now? I’d rather call someone.
Because getting it done without wrecking my nervous system is more important than saving a few bucks and DIYing it into another stress spiral.
Your website’s no different.
If you genuinely enjoy it then go for it.
But if you don’t? Get support.
Just because you can doesn’t mean you have to.
Sometimes the wisest, strongest move is handing it off to someone who can take it across the finish line with clarity, calm, and care.
A website you DIY’d under pressure with a million tabs open and no roadmap might technically be “done.”
But if it feels like that half-unpacked suitcase on your floor (always there, always unfinished) it’s not supporting your work.
It’s quietly draining your energy, time, and confidence.
And getting support to finish it?
That’s not giving up.
That’s design that respects your capacity.
You don’t have to prove anything by doing it all alone.
You just have to take the next right step.
Let someone help you carry the load.
