Beneath the Branches Therapy is a fictional passion project created to demonstrate how thoughtful, neurodivergent-aware website strategy can serve therapists and their clients. The concept focuses on supporting teens who feel misunderstood, overwhelmed, or disconnected—often due to ADHD, autism, or identity-related challenges—and offers an emotionally safe, grounded digital experience that mirrors the therapist’s in-session approach.

Too many therapist websites still rely on generic templates or overly clinical language that doesn’t resonate with today’s teens—or their caregivers. For neurodivergent teens especially, traditional design patterns can feel overstimulating, invalidating, or just unclear. This project set out to reimagine what a therapeutic website could look and feel like when it truly centers the needs of this audience.

From the start, the strategy was about emotional clarity and accessibility.
Key feature of the new site include:
✔ Tone & Messaging: I led with emotionally attuned, neurodivergent-affirming language, prioritizing phrases that made teens feel seen and parents feel supported.
✔ Design Choices: The brand identity was rooted in nature, featuring a tree-and-root logo and a forest-inspired palette of safe, clay, and green. Fonts were selected for legibility and softness.
✔ Structure: The homepage walks visitors through a calm, ground experience with sections like "What to Expect," "Therapy That Feels Safe, Not Stressful," and "What I Help With." The content avoids jargon and emphasizes relational trust.
✔ Iconography: Line-style icons were created to symbolize abstract ideas like executive functioning, masking, and sensory sensitivity without falling into cliché or pathologizing imagery.
The result is a clean, strategic homepage that feels like a deep breath. It reflects the therapist’s values, offers practical insight into the client journey, and demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity and trust-building from the very first click.
While fictional, Beneath the Branches Therapy functions as a fully realized, emotionally intelligent mock-up that shows potential clients (and real therapists) what’s possible when your website is designed with intention.

Creating Beneath the Branches Therapy was a powerful reminder of why I do this work. Designing for neurodivergent teens and the therapists who support them requires care, nuance, and deep respect.
